What a Trip
I am blinking in shock and exhaustion having returned home from Columbus Ohio and TNNA (The National Needle Arts Association) trade show. I did not go as The Wool Dispensary, I went with The Wool Wide Web for which I work as an account manager. This was the first year having a booth and no one knew quite what to expect. In-between meetings with already established clients, working the show floor, manning the booth, and cramming in as much Jeni's Ice Cream as I possibly could; I also managed to get a tattoo from Dan Byas aka Reverend Dice at Sweet Baby Octane.
It commemorates my love and affection for Jeni's ice cream, and also my love for getting tattooed in various cities. I walked the 2.6 miles from the convention center to the shop and was, thankfully, given a ride back to High Street by Dan since two and a half hours of needles scraping my foot did not make for an easy walking situation. By the next day I was able to make it around just fine and I managed to make the acquaintance of some lovely designers.
The Wool Wide Web's booth was right next to and across from the Deep South Fiber Company who hosted some of my favorite designers like Anne Kuo Lukito, Woolly Wormhead, and Ysolda Teague. I also met KnitBrit aka Andi Smith and Rockand Purl aka Ruth Garcia-Alcantud and the lovely Shetland Trader, Gudrun Johnson. All in all it was a fun, tiring, extremely energizing show. Even Thorfinn got in on the action; here he is with his dinosaur buddies!
In the car on the way to Columbus I started in with knitting another monster. Gort the Gym Bag monster from Rebecca Danger's Big Book of Knitted Monsters. I decided to use Imperial Poison in RevĂȘur and Liberty Horse, not thinking that the color combo is very similar to Thorfinn's. I guess you can say I am liking the reds lately. He turned out to be about 15" high and has a nice pudgy stomach. I finished knitting his body while being tattooed, worked up the arms during the car ride home and pulled the last end through just as we hit the city limits, stuffing him up yesterday. Welcome the newest member to The Wool Dispensary's monster clan... Reverend Gort, or as I like to call him... Rev G.
Here he is posing with a local Ohio gin I brought back. I'll just have to be careful he doesn't drink too many gin and gingers without me.
